Job summary

Gryphon Oakwood in Austin, TX seeks a Chief Estimator to lead all estimating and preconstruction activities for the mission critical and commercial division. You will drive accurate, competitive, and profitable project estimates while mentoring the estimating team.

The ideal candidate has a decade of electrical estimating experience, strong leadership skills, and advanced knowledge of Accubid. You will review RFQs/ITBs, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and help position the company

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of electrical estimating experience within ground-up construction.
• Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and developing estimating teams.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical construction methods, systems, and practices.
• Proven track record of delivering accurate estimates with profitable execution.
• Advanced proficiency with estimating software, including Accubid.

Responsibilities

• Lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts for the mission critical and commercial division.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for estimators at all levels.
• Prepare and oversee accurate, competitive, profitable project estimates across diverse projects.
• Review RFPs, RFQs, and ITBs to ensure alignment with standards, schedules, and objectives.
• Manage estimating workloads, priorities, and timelines to support deadlines.
• Review quantity takeoffs and estimates for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with clients, general contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to clarify scope and negotiate pricing.
• Prepare scope documents, exhibits, and detailed project narratives.
• Lead estimate review meetings and implement training to improve performance.
• Develop conceptual estimates and budgeting assumptions for early-stage opportunities.
