Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with estimating software, including Accubid.

The Chief Estimator is responsible for leading and managing all estimating and preconstruction activities. This leadership role drives the development of accurate, competitive, and profitable project estimates while supporting the company’s growth objectives, client relationships, and strategic initiatives. The Chief Estimator oversees the estimating team, establishes departmental standards and processes, and partners closely with executive leadership to position the company for continued success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all estimating and preconstruction efforts for the mission critical and commercial division.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development for estimators at all levels.
  • Prepare and oversee the development of accurate, competitive, and profitable project estimates across a diverse portfolio of mission critical and commercial electrical projects.
  • Review Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), and Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to ensure alignment with company standards, schedules, and strategic objectives.
  • Manage estimating workloads, priorities, and timelines to support business goals and proposal deadlines.
  • Review quantity takeoffs and estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, general contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to clarify scope, resolve discrepancies, negotiate pricing, and strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Prepare scope documents, contractual exhibits, and detailed project narratives.
  • Lead estimate review meetings and implement training initiatives to enhance team performance and estimating consistency.
  • Develop conceptual estimates and budgeting assumptions for early-stage project opportunities.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Accubid database, assemblies, labor units, and estimating standards.
  • Establish, implement, and enforce best practices and standardized estimating procedures across the division.
  • Participate in project turnover, kickoff meetings, and preconstruction planning sessions as needed.
  • Analyze bid outcomes and completed project performance to identify trends and improve future estimate accuracy.
  • Provide reporting, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Represent the company at project meetings, industry functions, and networking events to strengthen business relationships and market presence.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding company, client, and project information.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
