Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer in Austin, TX to champion developer tooling and the Software Catalog ecosystem.

You will guide strategy, governance, and lifecycle management, partnering across Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Architecture, and Product teams to improve Developer Experience and platform reliability. With 8+ years in software/DevOps roles and 2+ years in leadership, you will drive automation, self-service capabilities, and modern tooling with a DX-first mindset,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
• Experience supporting enterprise developer tooling ecosystems.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise software engineering principles and modern development practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git, SQL, and Java or .NET development.
• Experience with artifact management platforms such as JFrog and integrations with core DevOps platforms.
• Proficiency with PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, governance, and lifecycle management of the enterprise developer tooling ecosystem with end-to-end ownership.
• Define tooling standards, governance, best practices, and support models.
• Own Developer Experience (DevEx), including onboarding, Day 2 operations, self-service tooling, and productivity initiatives.
• Support developer tooling ecosystems as product-like platforms with a DX focus.
• Oversee tool lifecycle management: onboarding, upgrades, licensing, renewals, adoption, retirement.
• Drive modernization, automation, self-service, and developer productivity improvements.
• Partner with Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Architecture, and vendors to align tooling roadmaps.
• Lead platform migrations and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools.
• Monitor operational metrics, adoption trends, risk remediation, and cost optimization.
