Job summary

Unum Group is seeking a visionary Head of Platforms & Architecture to lead the data and AI platform strategy across data, analytics, and AI governance. This executive will own reference architectures, platform standards, and the cloud consumption model, guiding teams and vendors to deliver scalable, compliant solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in data platforms, GenAI, and enterprise risk controls, with the ability to communicate with the Board and Executive Committee.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics and technology, including 8+ years leading large, multi-disciplinary technology organizations.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the multi-year enterprise data platform strategy, including target-state lakehouse/warehouse architecture and migration roadmap.
• Establish and enforce reference architectures for ingestion, storage, transformation, orchestration, and serving.
• Own the enterprise data catalog, lineage, policy, and access-governance tooling to support governance at scale.
• Lead the platform for master and reference data management and responsible AI governance frameworks.
• Partner with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Enterprise Risk, and the AI Governance Committee.
