Job summary

Michels Corporation is seeking an IT Manager of Data Platform & Engineering to lead the enterprise data platform development and data engineering function. The role is a founding leadership position on the Enterprise Intelligence team, delivering trusted, governed data products to analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives.

You will partner across business and IT to enable analytics, reporting, and AI while creating a scalable data foundation for the future.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
8+ years in data engineering or software engineering with 4+ years leading technical teams.
Proven experience building large-scale cloud data platforms and delivering governed data products.
Hands-on proficiency with SQL, Python, orchestration, CI/CD, and both batch and streaming ingestion.
Experience implementing data quality controls, lineage, and governance at scale.

Responsibilities

Recruit and develop a founding data engineering team and establish operating practices.
Lead buildout of the enterprise data platform, including ingestion, storage, transformation, and orchestration layers.
Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to prioritize the engineering backlog and balance value, speed, cost, risk, and maintainability.
Remain hands-on with the team to design, build, and optimize data pipelines and transformation logic.
Partner with data governance to ensure durable, interoperable platform decisions for analytics and AI use cases.
Establish engineering disciplines that enable a lean team to operate reliably with AI and automation.
