Job summary

Michels Corporation is seeking a Staff Data & AI Governance Manager to help build our enterprise governance function from the ground up. As a founding member of the Enterprise Intelligence team, you will shape policies, standards, and operating routines for trusted data across the business.

The role starts hands-on, laying the groundwork to move quickly on experiments while ensuring durability, transparency, and compliance, with a clear path to lead the governance program as it matures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of enterprise data governance experience.
• Experience with governance tooling and modern data platforms.
• Familiarity with generative AI, responsible AI governance.

Responsibilities

• Build data and AI governance framework: policies, roles, and processes.
• Establish foundational data governance across ownership, quality, metadata, and retention.
• Partner with business, operations, and IT for shared governance ownership.
• Create AI governance for use-case intake, risk classification, and oversight.
• Facilitate governance forums and cross-functional decisions.
• Develop metrics and reporting on data quality, governance maturity, AI adoption, and risks.
• Grow the function into leadership overseeing future capabilities.
