Job summary

NewsBreak is building ReelBee, an open short-drama distribution platform. As Head of Content & Supply you will own the supply side: what content gets on the platform, on what terms, and how we know it works. This role spans the US and China, with hiring in Mountain View and Beijing.

You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate deals, define taxonomy, and design creator funding models. English and Mandarin fluency are essential, with 5+ years in the field and a robust China-side network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in short drama, web fiction or digital video, including 2+ years in content acquisition, distribution or content strategy at an overseas platform or leading Chinese platform.
• Established China-side supply network with existing relationships and ability to start deals quickly.
• Verifiable hit judgments: titles you selected that performed with data to back it up.
• Data-driven: comfortable using metrics like CTR, conversion and per-title ROI to guide decisions.
• Strong negotiation and deal-structuring skills across buyout, MG and rev-share models.
• Professional fluency in English and Mandarin; able to read US audience data and feedback.
• Belief in open-platform models: transparency and data-driven supply content.

Responsibilities

• Own the content supply strategy across PGC and UGC; ensure catalog scale, quality and return.
• Define selection criteria and the title-selection system calibrated by real performance data.
• Build and manage 50+ supplier and rights-holder relationships; lead acquisitions, contracts and launches; secure premieres and exclusivity windows.
• Create a creator fund and ecosystem (phase 2): design models and revenue-share rules for US creators.
• Track global charts and audience trends; publish insights for internal teams and creators.
• Partner with Growth on scaling strategies for winning titles; run post-mortems on hits and misses.
• Hire and lead content operations, supplier BD and creator relations.
