Job summary

Waabi is seeking a Director of Communications to lead our earned media and executive communications, shaping how the company is viewed across logistics, technology, and business media. You’ll work closely with the Director of Marketing on thought leadership and blogging, while managing our external agency relationships to ensure accurate, credible coverage.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in communications, PR, or media relations with a track record of landing coverage in technology, business, or industrial/logistics trade press.
• Ability to translate deep technical work into compelling, accurate stories for trade and mainstream media.
• Experience managing an external communications or PR agency with briefing, review, and performance accountability.
• Experience supporting executive communications—speeches, talking points, bylines, or media training.
• Excellent writer capable of shaping thought leadership and blog content with product marketing.
• Strong message discipline and ability to maintain clearance guardrails as public narrative matures.
• Comfortable operating in a small, hands-on team with potential to lead a team over time.

Responsibilities

• Own relationships with reporters and editors across logistics, technology, and business media; pitch and place stories.
• Ensure external stories reinforce Waabi's narrative—proof-based, not hype—avoiding misclassification as just another AV company.
• Draft executive communications, speaking materials, and talking points with the Director of Marketing for a consistent voice.
• Collaborate with Marketing to craft blog posts and thought leadership content across logistics, tech, safety, and policy.
• Manage the communications agency's day-to-day work and hold them accountable to results, not just activity.
• Maintain guardrails on proof points, terminology, and external claims as the company scales.
