Job summary

Waabi is seeking a Director of Communications to build and run Waabi's earned media and executive communications function. You will land meaningful coverage across logistics, technology, and business media, shaping how the market understands a company building AI for the physical world, not just another autonomous trucking company.

You will partner with our Director of Marketing on blog posts, thought leadership, and executive communications, and manage our communications agency day to day.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in communications, PR, or media relations.
• Translate deep technical or scientific work into compelling, accurate stories.
• Experience managing an external PR agency, including briefing and review.
• Experience supporting executive communications — speeches, talking points, or media training.
• Excellent writer, capable of shaping thought leadership and blog content.
• Strong message discipline — maintain clearance guardrails on claims and terminology.
• Comfortable operating in a small, hands-on team and building toward leading a team.

Responsibilities

• Own relationships with reporters across logistics, technology, and business media.
• Ensure external stories reinforce Waabi's core narrative with proof over hype.
• Draft executive communications, speaking materials, and talking points with Marketing and IR.
• Collaborate with Marketing to create blog posts and thought leadership content across logistics, tech, safety and policy.
• Manage the communications agency's day-to-day, ensuring output meets results.
• Maintain guardrails on what's cleared for external use as the company scales.
• Lead internal communications strategy with Head of People and CEO's Chief of Staff.
• As growth continues, build the case for and eventually lead a small communications team.
