Operating across multiple international markets, the company combines proprietary technology, energy market expertise, and commercial innovation to help customers optimise energy usage, generate new revenue streams, improve power resilience, and support the transition to a cleaner and more flexible electricity system.
Following significant growth, the organisation is seeking a senior leader to drive its expansion in one of North America's most strategically important energy markets. This position offers the opportunity to lead an established operation whilst shaping the next phase of commercial growth and market development.
The Role
The Head of Commercial will lead a major regional business unit with full accountability for commercial performance, operational execution, market expansion, and long-term strategic growth.
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will define and execute market strategy, develop key customer and industry relationships, and ensure the business is positioned to capitalise on evolving opportunities across the energy landscape, reporting directly back to the CEO.
This role exists to translate changing market dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory developments into sustainable commercial growth. It requires a highly commercial leader with experience operating at the intersection of energy markets, technology, infrastructure, and customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver the regional P&L, including revenue growth, profitability, operational performance, and strategic expansion initiatives
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy across commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and large energy-consuming sectors
- Build and maintain executive-level relationships with customers, market participants, policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders
- Identify and secure strategic commercial partnerships that accelerate market growth and customer acquisition
- Translate market, regulatory, and policy developments into actionable commercial and operational strategies
- Drive operational excellence, ensuring high-quality service delivery, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team while fostering a results-driven, entrepreneurial culture
- Represent the organisation at major industry conferences, forums, and stakeholder engagements
- Provide regular commercial, operational, and financial reporting to senior leadership and the board
- Collaborate closely with global leadership teams to align regional priorities with broader organisational objectives
Required Experience:
- Proven experience leading a business unit, regional operation, or significant market function with full accountability for commercial and operational performance
- Strong commercial leadership experience including ownership of revenue growth, profitability, and strategic planning
- Deep understanding of competitive energy markets, power systems, grid services, energy technology, or adjacent infrastructure sectors
- Demonstrated success developing strategic customer relationships and closing complex, high-value commercial agreements
- Experience operating within regulated industries and navigating evolving market or policy environments
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L ownership
- Track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing teams through periods of growth and transformation
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage executives, investors, customers, and regulators
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate autonomously whilst influencing a broader organisation
- Experience supporting large energy users, critical infrastructure, industrial customers, or complex operational environments is advantageous
Preferred Experience:
- Leadership experience within energy technology, power markets, grid infrastructure, demand-side management, or related sectors
- Existing relationships across the energy ecosystem, including customers, market operators, utilities, policymakers, or infrastructure developers
- Experience scaling a business within a high-growth or technology-driven environment
- Exposure to data centres, industrial energy users, or critical infrastructure markets
- Background working across multiple stakeholder groups including technical, commercial, regulatory, and operational teams
