Campaign Strategy & Delivery
- Develop campaign strategy(ies), and lead on day-to-day delivery of high impact campaigns to advance ECU’s vision, with support from the ECU colleagues.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of economic policy and political debates and developments, and public attitudes research relevant to live campaigns, and develop and update evidence-based policy positions and campaign tactics as appropriate.
- Devise and deliver creative, impactful interventions that advance campaign goals, such as identifying and commissioning research on policy and public opinion.
- Support the SMT to identify key emerging political issues and opportunities relevant to ECU’s strategic aims and to shape appropriate responses.
- Stay up-to-date on key emerging insights on campaign strategy and tactics. Provide peer support and advice to other ECU colleagues, and to campaign leads in our new economy partners in relation to the campaigns and they are leading on.
Relationship-building & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with key individuals and groups in Government, Parliament, Whitehall, business, trade unions, the media, academia and civil society, helping to foster a network of key campaign allies and partners.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across the broad range of organisations and individuals in the new economy ecosystem, particularly campaign leads.
- Build and manage impactful coalitions, where necessary to achieve campaign goals.
Communications
- With support from the Head of Strategic Communications, develop and deliver media, communications, and social media strategies to advance core campaign goals.
- Oversee creation of campaign branding, commissioning and managing the work of creative agencies where appropriate.
- Write and edit high quality campaign copy, adapted for different audiences, including MP and journalist briefings, press releases and web copy.
- Represent ECU campaigns and coalitions in the media, and at external events.
Finance, Fundraising & Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)
- Develop, manage and report on assigned campaign budgets.
- Devise and implement MEL systems for campaigns, ensuring strong tracking and analysis of impact, and the identification of key learnings and their integration into future activities.
- Support the Director of Policy & Programmes and Executive Director with fundraising for campaigns, including producing timely copy for funding applications and reports.
Team & Organisation
- Provide excellent line management for 1-3 staff (currently one Policy & Programme Lead), supporting them to flourish and develop as well as ensuring they are delivering for the organisation’s priorities.
- Build strong cross-team relationships, keeping colleagues informed of key campaign developments and consulting them appropriately on relevant decisions.
- Provide effective management and oversight of the work of external consultants and agencies.
- Actively help to foster ECU’s collaborative, inclusive working culture, in which all staff feel valued and in which we support each other to work effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
- Support the Senior Management Team in helping the organisation to embed current best practise in relation to anti-oppression, diversity and inclusion across our work, playing a proactive role in this in relation to campaigns.
- Contribute to organisational strategic planning.
- Deputise for the Director of Policy & Programmes as and when required
