Job summary

The Director of Automation and Control Systems at GAF oversees the Automation & Controls group, guiding cross-functional collaboration with engineering and IT to foster innovation and align with capital planning and manufacturing optimization initiatives.

This role leads strategy for machine standards, budgets, and project deployment across multiple facilities, while ensuring safety, documentation, and continuous education for the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience required.
• Experience leading Automation & Controls projects across multiple locations.
• Proven leadership and relationship-building skills.
• Working knowledge of CAD, HMI, PLCs, G-Suite and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Effectively manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, R&D to integrate Automation and Controls.
• Manage all financial responsibilities: capitalized projects, budgeting, and reporting.
• Identify and implement automation software with operations systems.
• Guide engineering practices across the team and maintain documentation.
• Provide leadership and foster a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
