Job summary

GAF is seeking a Director of Automation and Control Systems to oversee the Automation & Controls team, collaborate with engineering, and drive continuous improvement across facilities. This role shapes capital planning and aligns with manufacturing optimization initiatives.

It requires engineering acumen, 10+ years in manufacturing, and proven leadership across multiple locations. A strong safety and documentation discipline is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Experience leading automation projects across multiple manufacturing locations.
• Proven experience leading a team indirectly or directly.
• Proven relationship building and development of strong partnerships.
• Working knowledge of CAD; HMI development; PLCs; G-Suite; and advanced diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage all functions of Automation and Controls group.
• Contribute to 3- and 5-year capital plans for manufacturing facilities.
• Collaborate with IT, Process Services, Corporate Engineering, GAF Business Systems, and R&D to integrate Automation and Controls.
• Oversee capitalized projects and budgeting for the team.
• Identify and implement Automation and Controls software with operations systems.
• Ensure documentation for controls systems is up to date and compliant.
• Promote safety culture and continuous education within the team.
