Job summary

The Richmonder is seeking a Lead, Audience Acquisition and Community Engagement to grow readership, grow newsletter subscriptions, and deepen ties with readers in the Richmond region.

You will develop data-informed strategies, build authentic community relationships, and test new ideas that drive measurable growth, blending digital marketing with local outreach. A passion for local news is essential; experience in nonprofit settings is a plus.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in audience development, digital marketing, nonprofit marketing, or community engagement.
• Familiarity with membership, subscription, or fundraising campaigns.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience managing social media platforms, email marketing, and digital communications.

Responsibilities

• Develop audience growth strategies to increase subscribers and engagement.
• Identify audience segments and run targeted outreach campaigns.
• Optimize channels including social media, search, partnerships, events.
• Build partnerships and community outreach initiatives.
• Manage social media and email campaigns, landing pages, and CRM tools.
• Analyze data and produce regular performance reports.
• Support membership growth and donor initiatives.
• Represent The Richmonder at community events and forums.
