Job summary

The Richmonder, a nonprofit local news organization based in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking an Events and Sponsorship Manager to plan, coordinate, and execute a portfolio of events that advance fundraising, audience engagement, and community impact.

The role leads sponsorship sales and stewardship, cultivates relationships with local businesses, and oversees budgets, timelines, and logistics for two signature events plus a planned third, with a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in event management, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or related field.
• Two or more years of experience in event planning, sponsorship sales, fundraising, advertising sales, or community engagement.
• Demonstrated success meeting revenue goals and building community relationships.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience using CRM, donor databases, or relationship management platforms preferred.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward local businesses and organizations for sponsorship opportunities.
• Plan, execute, and manage The Richmonder's signature events and a third upcoming event.
• Develop budgets, track revenue projections, process contracts and invoices.
• Market tickets and coordinate sponsor recognition across newsletters, social media, and event materials.
