Invitation Homes LP in Dallas, TX seeks a Sr. Director of Architecture to lead architecture strategy, drive DevOps maturity, and empower engineering teams delivering scalable solutions for residents and associates.

You'll mentor leaders, own core API and platform engineering initiatives, champion security, and align technical standards with business goals. This is a hands-on leadership role with broad impact across technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or related experience.
• 15+ years of experience in software development and architecture.
• 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
• Track record of coaching and mentoring Engineering leaders on both technical and management tracks.
• Knowledge of technical, operational, and cultural structures required to scale teams in a high-growth environment.
• Ability to translate short and long-range strategic plans for enterprise-wide architecture into design and implementation of current and future applications and systems.
• Proven developer of enterprise APIs and messaging solutions, with the ability to decompose complex problems into logical domains.
• Experience with implementation of enterprise integration architecture patterns and related technologies.
• Strong technologist with knowledge of various architectural styles including layered, monolithic, client-server, or component based.
• Deep understanding of AWS, Infrastructure-as-Code, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Polyglot programmer; knowledge and awareness of multiple modern languages such as: Javascript, Typescript, node.js, Go, React, Java, Swift, Kotlin, .Net, SQL.
• Comfortable making the tough decisions when needed, and stepping back when needed; you know how to participate in the technical details while still empowering your team to make decisions.
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written, with bonus points for having excellent public speaking abilities
• Able to both collaborate with and negotiate with peers inside and outside of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and mentorship to the Engineering organization.
• Hire, develop, manage, and coach high-performing teams focused on Core API and Platform Engineering.
• Develop knowledge of the business and communicate a vision for engineering alignment with strategies.
• Define goals and oversee engineering execution with emphasis on code quality and rapid deployment.
• Own and run the Solution Architecture practice and ensure adherence to architecture principles.
• Build and lead the Core API team to support API and event-based connections across systems.
• Lead Platform Engineering to provide CI/CD capabilities and core infrastructure.
• Advance security integration across the software development lifecycle.
• Coordinate with Technology leadership on priorities, scope, and change management.
• Foster cross-team collaboration and knowledge sharing across development teams.
• Run the Technology Architecture Guild to uphold engineering standards.
• Evaluate and adopt technologies including open-source solutions and vendor partnerships.
• Participate in annual budgeting for Technology and Engineering.
