Job summary

Relativity Applied Science is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to lead a team of researchers and shape architectures for AI-powered legal data analysis. You will stay hands-on while guiding production-ready systems and ensuring reliability and defensibility of results.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, design, customer teams, and legal experts to move ideas from proof-of-concept to scalable solutions, while maintaining rigorous evaluation and reliability standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS or quantitative discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years in applied AI/ML, including 1+ year as a people leader.
• Fluency with modern generative AI within larger systems; sound judgment about capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of applied scientists: hire, coach, set direction, develop people.
• Shape architectures, review designs and evaluations, and work closely with the team on hard problems.
• Own AI system readiness end-to-end, from framing to production monitoring and defensible outputs.
• Choose problems and invest where impact is highest across legal AI scenarios.
• Partner with product, engineering, design, customer-facing teams, and legal experts to scale concepts to production.
• Communicate with precision to teams and customers; translate technical nuance into actionable decisions.
• Represent Relativity at industry events and with customers.
