Job summary

SMX is seeking the Analytics & Applications Practice Leader to build the ESS capability that turns agency data into decisions and modernizes the applications mission users rely on. The leader owns the offering, the talent bench, and the financial results across the ESS Business Unit.

This role defines market positioning, oversees revenue and margin, sets standards for delivery quality, and coordinates with Solutions & Innovations to package repeatable assets.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in data, analytics, or application development, including 7+ years leading programs or a practice of 50+ people.
• Delivered enterprise data platforms, analytics, or AI solutions in production for large organizations.
• Track record of winning and growing federal analytics, AI, or application modernization work.
• Working knowledge of federal data and AI policy, security (FedRAMP, ATO), and agile/DevSecOps delivery.
• Experience owning revenue and margin for a business line.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Determine strategic vision, execution and KPIs of the Analytics & Apps line of business for market analysis and project delivery.
• Responsible for hiring, development, capacity management, and succession for Analytics & Apps resources.
• Own the P&L and delivery quality for the practice, leading the practice directors and setting standards.
• Set revenue, margin, utilization, forecasting, budget and pricing approvals for all projects.
• Define market positioning, offerings, and pipeline with growth and product engineering divisions.
• Define ESS BU portfolio across data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and CX/digital services.
• Provide leadership in cross-functional ESS teams and executive stakeholder management.
• Build cross-practice offerings with SAP and Oracle portfolios (ERP analytics, AI on data).
• Coordinate with Solutions & Innovations to build repeatable assets (reference architectures, AI patterns, playbooks).
• Focus employee development on data engineers, data scientists, full-stack/low-code developers, and CX/UX designers.
