Job summary

SMX is seeking a Senior Data Architect to design and optimize the enterprise data warehouse supporting the FTA mission. You will replace legacy systems and build scalable data models, ETL pipelines, and analytics-ready data lakes in a cloud environment.

You will lead architecture governance, collaborate with federal leads, and drive modernization across AWS-based platforms, Databricks, and data lakes to enable data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in a related field.
• 10+ years in BI, data warehousing, data modeling & database design.
• Proven cloud data architecture experience, AWS-focused.
• Expertise in dimensional modeling for analytics.
• Hands-on with SQL Server & MariaDB.
• Experience building complex ETL/ELT with SSIS, Python, or Databricks.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise data architecture and data models.
• Design data marts and scalable database solutions.
• Oversee ETL/ELT pipelines across critical systems (NTD, TRAMS) and external sources.
• Provide governance and guidance to development teams.
• Support AWS cloud modernization and migration to Databricks/Data Lakes.
