Job summary

General Motors seeks a Principal AI/ML Engineer to lead the AV ML Infra team, guiding infrastructure strategy and execution across GM’s AI/ML efforts. This role shapes long-term vision, builds scalable systems, and partners with cross-functional teams to accelerate autonomous vehicle innovation.

The leader will design organizational structures, foster collaboration, and recruit talent, while focusing on ML infrastructure rather than model-specific tasks.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in large-scale distributed systems, preferably in ML infra.
• 5+ years leading large initiatives and teams.
• Cloud-based infrastructure experience with Python, C++, or Golang.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable cloud-based ML infrastructure.
• Own technical projects from inception to delivery and roadmap.
• Collaborate across teams to align on architecture and priorities.
• Mentor engineers and interns, and lead technical interviews.
