Job summary

General Motors seeks a Principal TLM to lead the ML data infrastructure team, shaping data ingestion, processing, and storage across the ML ecosystem. You will guide architecture, ensure data governance, and collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product teams to deliver scalable platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive performance improvements, and champion Agile practices while aligning with GM’s security and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field with a focus on ML data infrastructure.
• Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• Deep expertise in designing, building, and operating large-scale data systems and Analytical Platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their data requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to translate system requirements into technical solutions.
• Solid understanding of Agile Methodology and experience in Agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers in the design, development, and maintenance of scalable ML data infrastructure.
• Define and implement architectural patterns and best practices for data ingestion, processing, storage, and access within the ML ecosystem.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, data platform engineers, and product teams to translate data requirements into technical specifications.
• Analyze existing systems to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in data pipelines and analytical platforms.
• Oversee evaluation and integration of new technologies to enhance ML data infrastructure capabilities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
