Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks a Coach (Sports) at Reed High School to coach or advise students in an Extended Day Duty activity. The role emphasizes sound coaching practices, injury prevention, and student welfare under the supervision of the Principal and Athletic Director.

Responsibilities include leading practices and contests, maintaining safety, reporting on the program, and building community relations. A high school diploma is needed; CPR is required for athletic activities.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a high school diploma; teachers preferred.
• Some coaching/advising experience in this activity.
• CPR certification required for coaches involved in an athletic activity.

Responsibilities

• Develops rapport with students and provides sound leadership; example of good sportsmanship; discipline fairly and per procedures.
• Maintains cooperation with Principal/Academic Director and other Extended Day staff; keeps them informed about the program, trips, games, etc.
• Develops a sound system for accountability, upkeep and protection of equipment.
• Develops good public relations in the school and community.
• Attends contests and practice sessions.
• Completes appropriate reports evaluating the activity and makes improvements.
