Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking an experienced custodian to perform intermediate to high level cleaning and maintenance across school buildings and grounds. The role includes supervising other custodial staff, following safety protocols, and ensuring secure facilities.

Responsibilities cover cleaning classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, and offices; coordinating with school staff for events; reporting maintenance needs; and upholding district standards for cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required; considerable custodial experience.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Comparable training and experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise custodial staff and cleaning of interiors, grounds, and furnishings.
• Maintain safety and protect building security per standards.
• Assist with events and setup, and coordinate with cafeteria and other staff as needed.
• Handle deliveries and custodial supply management.
• Ensure compliance with district policies and site procedures.
