Job summary

Taher, Inc. is seeking a Head Cook to lead our school meals kitchen, ensuring high-quality meals prepared to standardized recipes and on schedule. You will supervise a small team, monitor food safety, and manage inventory and costs.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in school food service, strong leadership, and are familiar with ServSafe standards. We offer guaranteed hours with no nights or weekends, daily lunch, uniforms and PPE, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small kitchen team in a school food service setting.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Strong communication with employees and clients.
• Ability to prioritize, plan and use time efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares a variety of food through standardized recipes.
• Ensures meals meet quality standards and are prepared on time.
• Leads kitchen staff and substitutes during service.
• Prepares all menu items for regular and a la carte lines.
• Monitors equipment and food temperatures; enforces safety standards.
• Manages inventory, ordering, receiving and storage of perishables.
• Controls costs and budgets; monitors waste and labor costs.
• Promotes nutrition education in school and community.
• Performs other duties as requested by leadership.
