Job summary

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable Head Cook for our school food service program in Siouxland Christian Preschool. This on-site role offers a daytime Monday–Friday schedule and the opportunity to prepare nutritious meals for students.

You will lead daily production, ensure food safety, manage inventory, and train team members, while supporting a positive dining experience for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience cooking for groups is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, and other physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily food production and meal preparation.
• Maintain clean, organized kitchen and HACCP records.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, and inventory for meals.
• Train team members and cover other kitchen duties when needed.

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable, team‑focused Head Cook to join our school food service program. If you take pride in preparing nutritious and delicious meals, enjoy a positive work environment working with students, and want a schedule that supports work–life balance, this role is a great fit.

What You’ll Do

• Lead daily food production by preparing high‑quality meals, following recipes, supporting special diets, and helping with catering and serving‑time readiness.
• Keep the kitchen organized and compliant by maintaining clean work areas, overseeing storage organization using FIFO, completing HACCP logs, production records, inventories, and participation tracking.
• Support food safety by monitoring safe practices and maintaining a healthy, compliant workspace.
• Assist with ordering, stocking, prep lists, freezer pulls, and serving during meal times.
• Help train team members and fill in for other kitchen duties when needed.

What You Bring

• HS Diploma or GED Preferred
• 1 year of cooking experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, bending, twisting, and other physical tasks.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to follow recipes, measure ingredients, and convert quantities for large batches.
• Dependability, integrity, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
