Job summary

Chatfield Public Schools is seeking a head coach for its athletics program at Chatfield High School. The role involves leading the overall sports program, coordinating a staff of coaches, and guiding student athletes in technical skills, team strategy and personal development.

The coach will model professional behavior, stay current with coaching theory, and coordinate with the athletic director and principal to ensure safe, ethical and high‑quality sports experiences for all student athletes.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (Major sports).
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and must stay current with new theories.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through actions and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of athletic policies and ensures their implementation by staff.
• Understands regulations and interprets them for staff; maintains proper command lines.
• Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure program awareness.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth, and evaluates assistants.
• Performs duties assigned by the athletic director/principal and coordinates events.
• Mentors athletes on character, grades and conduct; oversees safety and policy adherence.
