Job summary

Chatfield Public Schools seeks a highly experienced athletics/activities coach to lead the high school sports program at Chatfield High School. The head coach will supervise assistant coaches, mentor student athletes, and ensure technical and strategic excellence across the program.

The role emphasizes role modeling, ongoing professional development, and collaboration with the athletic director and school administration to maintain high standards of sportsmanship and student growth.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• Head coach must have substantial knowledge of the sport's technical aspects and stay updated with new theories and procedures.
• Head coach must be a positive role model for student athletes through actions and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training for individual and team success.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultations.
• Supervise and coordinate a staff of coaches and assistants with the athletic director and principal.
• Maintain discipline and promote morale, cooperation, and sportsmanship across programs.
• Assist in scheduling, transportation, and event logistics for tournaments and practices.
• Advise student managers, assistants, statisticians, and ensure proper documentation and compliance.
• Promote the sport within the school and community through outreach and meetings.
