Job summary

CHATFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a head coach to organize and supervise the total sports program, bringing extensive coaching experience and deep technical knowledge. The role also emphasizes modeling ethical behavior and leadership for student athletes.

The head coach will oversee staff, coordinate with the athletic director, and ensure compliance with policies while promoting character development and academic success among athletes.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of athletic policies and ensures staff implement them.
• Knows and interprets system, state and league regulations for staff.
• Understands proper command lines and channels for requests and grievances.
• Established the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff; trains and informs staff.
• Delivers staff development through clinics and evaluations; delegates duties and analyzes staff performance.
• Maintains discipline, resolves grievances, and works to boost morale and cooperation.
• Assists athletic director with scheduling, transportation and tournament logistics.
• Prepares documentation for medical, eligibility and parental consent requirements.
• Mentors athletes to develop character traits and academic focus.
• Oversees budgeting, equipment management and facility security.
