Job summary

Requires a BA/BFA in Theatre Production or equivalent, 2–4 years’ experience, and skills in carpentry, CNC routing, metalworking, CAD/AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Excel. A valid driver’s license is required. In-person work week on campus.

Qualifications

• BA/BFA in Theatre Production or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years’ experience preferred, ideally at a higher education institution.
• Experience with carpentry techniques, layout, and construction.
• Experience with CNC routers and software.
• Experience with metalworking, welding, and scenic painting.
• Proficiency in CAD/AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Excel & Google Suite.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Technical Director to supervise construction, painting, rigging, and installation of scenery and properties for Emerson Stage productions.
• Supervise and instruct students in co-curricular production work, labs, or student staff.
• Monitor shop stock material inventories and advise TD when stocks are low.
• Maintain running accounts of materials used per project.
• Ensure regular maintenance of shop tools and equipment.
• Ensure daily shop clean-up and inventory of tools.
• Attend weekly Production Meetings and Technical Rehearsals; be on-call during performances.
• Attend monthly Design/Tech Area meetings with faculty and production area staff.
• Ensure safe use of hand tools, power tools, machinery, and handling of scenic materials.
• Manage Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Other duties as assigned.
