Job summary

Emerson College in Boston seeks an Assistant Production Manager for a 10-month term to coordinate technical and logistical elements of theatrical productions. You will work with the Emerson Stage management, faculty, and student producers, schedule load-ins, load-outs, and tech week, and help ensure safety and on-time delivery of shows.

In this role you will mentor student designers and production staff, manage budgets with the Director of Theatre Operations, and step in for the Production

Qualifications

• Minimum education in theatre production with related field.
• Experience in production management or supervision in theatre or live events.
• Experience mentoring students or junior staff in an academic setting.

Responsibilities

• Execute Emerson Stage leadership vision with clear communication across staff, faculty, and students.
• Schedule and supervise load-ins/outs and tech week with safety oversight.
• Independently make decisions during load-ins, load-outs, and rehearsals if the Production Manager is unavailable.
• Lead production and staff meetings in the absence of the Production Manager.
• Develop, track and maintain production budgets in consultation with leadership.
• Create and distribute rehearsal, production, and technical schedules and contact lists.
• Mentor student designers and oversee budget, deadlines, and communication.
