Job summary

Emerson College's Emerson Stage seeks an Assistant Production Manager for a 10-month assignment. You will coordinate technical and logistical elements and oversee staff, mentoring student designers and production staff.

You'll manage budgets, ensure deadlines, and communicate across departments during design and production. The hybrid office model requires local Boston residency and collaboration with faculty and students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in theatre production or related field required.
• 3-5 years of experience in theatre production with 1-3 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience mentoring Stage Managers and Production Managers at college level preferred or equivalent professional mentorship.
• Experience managing, instructing and supervising production teams.
• Experience overseeing load-ins/load-outs and safety standards (OSHA).
• Experience with CAD/Vectorworks/QLab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical and logistical elements of productions.
• Schedule load-ins, load-outs and tech week with supervision to ensure safety and timelines.
• Mentor student designers and production staff throughout processes.
• Develop, track and maintain production budgets.
• Prepare production documents: schedules, calendars, and contact lists.
• Lead staff meetings in the absence of the Production Manager.
• Ensure interdepartmental collaboration and resource allocation for builds and rehearsals.
• Maintain safe working conditions in rehearsal halls and shops.
