Job summary

Plainwell Community Schools is seeking a Head Coach for Athletics/Activities to direct a total sports program and work with the athletic director and principals on scheduling and policy implementation.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience in major sports and strong knowledge of technical aspects, while serving as a positive role model promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and character development through instruction and example.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and stay informed of new theories and procedures.
• Must serve as a role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has a thorough knowledge of athletic policies approved by the Board and ensures implementation by staff.
• Knows existing systems, state and league regulations; interprets them for staff.
• Maintains proper administrative command lines and routes requests through proper channels.
• Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques; designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings.
• Trains and informs staff; encourages professional growth via clinic attendance.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates staff effectiveness.
• Maintains discipline and morale; handles grievances.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the athletic director/principal.
