Job summary

The Catholic Diocese of Wichita is seeking a head coach to supervise a comprehensive sports program and mentor student athletes. The role requires strong leadership, program oversight, and adherence to athletic policies.

The coach will coordinate with athletic directors and principals, develop initiatives for athlete character development, and lead staff in delivering quality athletic experiences across sports.

Qualifications

• Must organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Must have previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• Must serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Has thorough knowledge of all athletic policies and ensures staff comply with them.
• Understands proper administrative line of command and uses proper channels for requests or grievances.
• Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth and clinic attendance.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates staff effectiveness.
• Assists athletic director with scheduling, transportation, and tournament/event requirements.
• Provides documentation for state and system requirements (exams, consent, eligibility).
• Mentors athletes to develop character, grades, and conduct; guides college/university selection.
