Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking a Head Coach to lead the school's athletic program, providing leadership, development, and alignment with district goals. This role emphasizes student-athlete growth, safety, and competitive excellence across the assigned sport.

You will coordinate practice schedules, ensure adherence to MSHSAA standards, supervise students at practices and contests, manage equipment, and pursue ongoing professional development through clinics and publications.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport's philosophy and coaching methods.
• Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.
• Strong commitment to student-athlete development and eligibility regulations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate sport with a full team in line with MSHSAA standards.
• Implement athletic standards per MSHSAA Handbook and attend required sessions.
• Assist in program coordination and logistics.
• Supervise students at practices and contests.
• Provide transportation, facilities, officials, and game management info.
• Organize and schedule practices to develop student-athletes.
• Emphasize safety and injury management procedures.
• Demonstrate sportsmanship and ethical conduct during activities.
• Oversee return of equipment per KCMSD Handbook.
• Pursue professional growth through clinics/publications.
• Complete 8 hours of professional development: district 4hrs, school 3hrs, outside 1hr.
