Job summary

Torc Robotics is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to audit HD map data for autonomous trucking. You will review lane geometry, road boundaries, and map features, ensuring accuracy for safe operation on highways and surface streets.

You will collaborate with mapping engineers, vendors, and autonomy teams to tighten QC workflows, scale processes, and deliver reliable datasets for Torc's commercial expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS/Geomatics/Geography or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–3 years in geospatial QC or map/annotation work; or 3–5 years for higher level.
• Experience with geospatial formats such as shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS or QGIS and LiDAR/point cloud viewers.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot spatial inconsistencies.

Responsibilities

• Review HD map geospatial data against quality specs and ground-truth sources.
• Perform QC on features derived from LiDAR, imagery, and sensor data.
• Identify, document, and triage map defects; escalate safety-critical issues.
• Define QC metrics, sampling strategies, and audit workflows at scale.
• Partner with vendors and internal teams to communicate standards and drive fixes.
• Analyze recurring defects and feed findings to improve map creation processes.
• Maintain documentation of QC procedures and regional map requirements.
• Support readiness reviews for new lanes, corridors, or ODDs before launch.
