Job summary

Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority seeks a Housing Specialist to administer HCV/Section 8 programs in Cincinnati, Ohio. You will interview residents and applicants, verify income and family composition, and determine initial and ongoing eligibility.

You will prepare certifications, calculate monthly subsidies and rents, process changes, generate reports, and maintain confidential client records using CMHA software and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Proficient in PC software: Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Two years of college-level coursework in Business Math, Social Work or related field.
• Two years’ experience in social work or related field with public contact.
• Proficient in basic business math.
• Experience with implementing contracts, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent customer service in fast-paced environment.
• Housing specialist certification within 12 months of employment and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Interview residents and applicants to verify income and family composition for eligibility of HCV/Section 8.
• Timely complete required certifications per agency policies and federal regulations.
• Process reported changes of applicant and participating families in CMHA’s software.
• Calculate monthly payments for housing assistance, tenant rent to owner and utilities.
• Provide customer service and assist clients in person and by other channels.
• Prepare correspondence, reports and letters using MS Office and CMHA software.
• Input information and generate reports related to the HCV program.
• Review and process information for owner and participant terminations from HCV program.
