Job summary

Knowledge Builders Inc. is seeking a Software Architect to lead the design and deployment of large-scale, cloud-enabled systems for the State Health Information Network for New York (SHINNY).

You will guide multi-team efforts, set technical standards, and oversee architectural decisions across web services, REST APIs, and data processing pipelines. The role calls for extensive experience (7+ years) in cloud-based, government-focused IT projects, strong leadership, and a BS/BA in CS or IT.

Qualifications

• 84 months of experience in design, implementation and deployment of web applications, single page front end applications, REST backends.
• 84 months of experience designing and building cloud native and hybrid applications in AWS.
• 84 months of experience with data processing, ETL and analysis with Python using libraries Pandas, Numpy.
• 84 months of experience in design, implementation and deployment of system-to-system applications using REST APIs, REST Clients, Spring security.
• 60 months of experience with relational and NoSQL databases, Oracle, Postgres, DynamoDB.
• 60 months of experience with programming public sector government IT projects.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Information Technology from an accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Designing web services and applications including researching and documenting technical designs, programming solutions, and customer technical support.
• Developing unit tests and testing processes autonomously to ensure conformity of the application with business requirements and implement change management.
• Managing the release management process, including testing, promoting and releasing of applications through the development environment.
• Leading code critique sessions and overseeing the development of technical design documentation.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• Leading database design/development and UI enhancements.

Job Description

Project/Program: State Health Information Network for New York (SHINNY).

This position will support cloud support services, such as cloud integration technical assistance, cloud-based analytic and security programs, and training for Dept personnel on the use of cloud-based tools.

Day-to-day Tasks

Day-to-day tasks may include but are not limited to:

• Designing web services and applications including researching and documenting technical designs, programming solutions, and customer technical support.
• Developing unit tests and testing processes autonomously to ensure conformity of the application with business requirements and implement change management.
• Managing the release management process, including testing, promoting and releasing of applications through the development environment.
• Leading code critique sessions and overseeing the development of technical design documentation.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• The architect will also lead database design/development and user-interface enhancements.

Mandatory Qualifications

Software Architect–

Makes high-level design choices and dictates technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. Designs multi-leveled architecture or component interactions of a large scale software system.

84+ months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.
