Job summary

The Heavy Equipment Operator at Republic Services safely operates a range of light and heavy equipment within our hazardous waste treatment facility or landfill. You will assist in off-loading trucks, stabilize and move waste, and support treatment and loading for disposal.

You’ll perform routine maintenance and participate in safety and quality checks to ensure compliant operations. Ideal candidates bring knowledge of equipment operation, the ability to use hand and power tools, and a focus on

Qualifications

• Currently hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance (tire pressure, oil and water).
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple responsibilities.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Processes treatment of materials and containers.
• Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
• Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
