Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Field Technician I to support environmental services tasks, including spill cleanup, decontamination, and equipment operation. You will respond to spills, perform cleanup under supervision, and adhere to safety policies while maintaining equipment and site conditions.

The role requires basic judgment on routine issues, with up to 2 years of relevant experience, and may require a confined space entry certification or ability to obtain one.

• Knowledge of chemicals; can read safety data sheets.
• Willing to provide input on working practices to meet departmental goals.
• Able to identify and report unsafe practices or conditions.

• Adheres to company safety standards and policies.
• Proficient with light tablet/PC use.
• Skilled with hand and shop tools and instruments.
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
• Confined space entry certificate preferred or obtainable on hire; may be required in some locations.
• May be required to hold a valid driver’s license.
• Experience range: 0–2 years related work.

Responsibilities

• Performs tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, and other remedial activities including confined space work.
• Responds to customer spills and emergencies during and after business hours.
• Maintains general housekeeping and equipment/work site upkeep.
• Follows safety policies/regulations and performs duties safely and efficiently.
• Sets up and uses equipment (pumps, generators, air compressors, light towers, pallet-jack, skid steer).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
