Job summary

Clean Harbors in South Plainfield and Bridgeport, NJ is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety conscious team. This role will perform hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials in the field.

90-95% TRAVEL / ON CALL / EMERGENCY RESPONSE. Pay range - $21.00 - $23.00 hourly; two-week paid training out of state with travel paid and per diem provided.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation is required.
• Valid Driver’s license is required.
• Ability to perform physical functions per responsibilities.
• On-call availability for emergency response on rotating basis.
• Complete a background check, drug test and medical exam as applicable.
• Comply with Respiratory Protection standards as per OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following policies.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment with PPE and tools.
• Work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
• Handle hazardous materials and conduct waste sampling or profiling as needed.
• Follow all local, state and federal regulations and DOT rules.
• Attend compliance and safety meetings and participate in site safety updates.
• Inspect drums for integrity and compliance; ensure safe loading/unloading of waste.
• Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters.
• Climb ladders and work from scaffolding or trucks and tanks.
• Work extended hours including weekends and holidays when required.
• Be on-call for emergency response as assigned.
