Job summary

Savage Services in Southeast Chicago, IL is seeking a Class A CDL driver with tanker and hazmat endorsements to join our Second Shift team. You will operate trucks and tanker safely, comply with FMCSA rules, and complete daily paperwork while supporting refinery and customer operations.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
• Minimum 6 months experience on both endorsements.
• Experience in tractor/trailers specific to tankers with Haz-Mat.
• Proven ability to focus on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedules.
• Experience with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow proper safety rules and operating procedures to support zero tolerance safety objectives.
• Operate truck and tanker safely at all times within the refinery, customer, and public roads.
• Follow all FMCSA/Company rules and regulations.
• Complete and maintain required daily paperwork.
• Housekeeping duties with the truck and trailer.
• Assist Maintenance personnel, as needed and directed.
• Maintain company objectives and expectations in the absence of the Facility Manager and Operations Manager.
• Willingness to work weekends, nights, holidays, and overtime as required to maintain safe and efficient operations.

The Basics:

• Location: Southeast Chicago, IL
• Compensation: $34.00 per hour
• Days/Hours: 2nd Shift - 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. - Weekends included
• Equipment Used: Sulphur Truck and Trailer

What you'll be doing:

Qualifications:

• Abilityto learn the loading and unloading procedures for all customers
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements and a minimum of 6 months experience on both endorsements.
• Experience in tractor/trailers specific to tankers with Haz-Mat
• Proven ability to focus on details, follow work rules, and adhere to work schedules.
• Experience with OSHA guidelines, policies, and procedures

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
• Ability to work a tablet and a computer
• Must be able to multitask and set priorities
• Ability to manage confidential issues

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the ability to wear required PPE
• Must be able to pass a fit test and pulmonary function test for the purposes of wearing a respirator and recertify annually or as needed
• Must have the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position:
• Work in an environment containing Sulphur odor/dust, hazardous noise, confined space, and in hot or cold environments.
