Job summary

Veolia seeks a Waste Handling Technician in North America to perform routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks, load/unload containers, decontaminate, and maintain a clean, safe work area. Under supervision, you will assist with paperwork and transport materials to and from sites.

Required is a High School diploma or GED (preferred) with 3–6 months in hazardous waste or chemical environments; forklift proficiency is preferred, and a 40-Hour HAZWOPER training is desirable.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–6 months in hazardous waste or chemical industry preferred; forklift proficiency.
• Trained in material handling equipment and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers).
• Construct boxes/containers; label and load for transport.
• Operate tools like impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers as directed.
• Move hazardous waste materials within the facility to designated locations.
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums per RCRA and disposal guidelines.
• Assist in completing required paperwork for processing materials and transport.
• Perform general housekeeping and maintain a safe work area.
• Inspect material handling equipment as directed.
