Job summary

Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is seeking an Environmental General Laborer to join a safety-focused team. The role involves field hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling hazardous materials.

Training academy is required and out-of-state; company covers expenses. The schedule is typically Monday–Friday with early start times, overtime after 40 hours, and opportunities for emergency response assignments (up to 2 weeks with hotel and per diem provided).

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation
• Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities
• On-call; emergency response; weekends/holidays may be required; can extend beyond 8 hours (up to 12–24 hrs)
• Background check, drug test, and physical, by position
• OSHA Respiratory Protection facial hair standards
• Preferred: Valid Driver’s license
• Preferred: Previous relevant labor experience

Responsibilities

• Follow Health and Safety policies and act safely at all times
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting heavy objects
• Operate light and heavy equipment and a range of hand tools
• Wear and properly use PPE including respirators; skin, face, hand and foot protection
• Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste and materials
• Attend compliance and safety update meetings
• Site remediation and equipment decontamination duties; on-call for emergency response on rotating basis
