Job summary

Clean Harbors in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Environmental General Laborer to join our safety-conscious team. This role will perform field tasks related to hazardous waste cleanup, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6 am start, averaging 8–10+ hour days and overtime after 40 hours. Willingness to travel for emergencies up to 2 weeks at a time is required; hotel and per diem are provided.

Qualifications

• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities.
• On-call emergency response may require weekends/holidays.
• Background check, drug test, and physical may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow health and safety policies and perform tasks safely.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and use various hand tools and powered tools.
• Wear and use PPE properly, including respirators and skin protection.
• Work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely during transport and disposal.
• Assist in field sampling and calibration of meters.
• Climb ladders and work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Be available for emergency response on a rotating basis.
