Job summary

Clean Harbors in East Chicago, IN is seeking an Environmental Field Laborer to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.

Team members will be primarily responsible for safe and compliant transfer of bulk materials from tankers to railcars. Starting pay is $20 per hour with comprehensive health benefits after 30 days of full-time employment

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver's license and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• On-call emergency response with potential weekends/holidays.
• Background check, drug test, and medical exam may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies.
• Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
• Operate light and heavy equipment and various hand tools.
• Wear and use PPE including respirators and protective gear.
• Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Handle hazardous and non-hazardous waste safely and in compliance.
• Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
• Attend compliance and safety update meetings.
