Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis seeks a Waste Technician to support the Environmental Health and Safety Department. The role involves collecting, transporting, and documenting infectious/medical waste and other regulated materials on the Medical School campus, plus data entry and inventory management.

Preferred candidates have OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, CDL with Hazmat, and a science-related degree. The position includes on-call spill response duties and requires physical ability to lift and move

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications: OSHA HAZWOPER preferred.
• Work Experience: 2 years in related field.
• Driver's license: CDL with Hazmat preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Collect, transport, document and assist in shipping infectious and medical waste.
• Transport universal waste and other regulated materials.
• Assist in chemical waste collection and management.
• Maintain inventory and records, data entry.
• Support Hazardous Materials Spill Response Team (HAZWOPER).
• Other duties as assigned.
