Job summary

Argonne National Laboratory seeks a professional to plan and assist with radioactive, hazardous, chemical, and abatement waste management. You will develop waste sampling plans, interpret results for classifications, and ensure regulatory compliance for DOE/EPA policies and TSDF requirements.

Qualifications

  • Proof of U.S. citizenship required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in waste management/transportation.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, DOT, NRC and DOE orders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for waste characterization and project shipments.
  • Develop waste sampling plans and interpret results for classifications.
  • Ensure compliance with DOE/EPA/Laboratory policies and regulations.
  • Write detailed work instructions for processing and packaging operations.
  • Assist waste shippers with shipments to TSDFs and verify waste profile requirements.
  • Model Argonne’s core values: impact, safety, respect, integrity and teamwork.
