Job summary
The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the Natural Resources Specialist - regulatory-type field inspection concentration with the Pollution Prevention Section of the Environmental Permitting Division.
The role focuses on enforcing environmental ordinances and inspecting haz-mat and storage tank facilities to protect air, land, and water quality within Broward County.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, geology, biology or environmental science or closely related field.
- 6 months experience in natural resource protection or related area.
- Must possess a valid Florida Class E driver license.
- Master’s or PhD preferred in environmental science or related field (preferred).
- OSHA Hazwoper, PSSC, PE licensure, EIT certifications and related credentials are preferred.
- Experience with hazardous materials and/or storage tank facilities licensing and inspection.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regulatory-type field inspections at haz-mat and storage tank facilities in Broward County.
- Cite non-compliance items and issue notices or violations.
- Respond to haz-mat requests, citizen complaints, spills and discharges.
- Input findings into regulatory databases and prepare inspection reports.
