• Ability to conduct site inspections and travel regionally under varying conditions

Environmental Specialist II with the Department of Health conducts specialized environmental inspections and oversight of petroleum storage tank facilities across seven Florida counties (Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, Holmes, Washington, and Bay). The role involves inspecting facilities for regulatory compliance, preparing enforcement documentation, coordinating with state and federal agencies, and providing technical assistance to facility owners and operators. Work is performed in the field and office under limited supervision, with travel required throughout the assigned region.

• Knowledge of Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Storage Tank Program and FAC Chapters 62-761 and 62-762
• HAZWOPER Certification (29 CFR 1910.120) or ability to obtain within six months of hire
• Valid driver's license and ability to sit for FDEP fuel tank inspector certification
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and FDEP's FIRST application and Toughbook systems
• Ability to conduct site inspections, travel through region, communicate effectively with diverse professionals, and work in extreme weather conditions
