Planet Labs PBC in San Francisco is seeking a Harness Manufacturing Engineer to own the manufacturing side of a new in-house harness production line for our satellite programs. You will work in the NPI team, partnering with Electrical Engineering, production technicians, quality, and supply chain to move harnesses from first article through flight production.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who wants to build a manufacturing capability from the ground up and drive process improvements,

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of manufacturing development in wire harness or cable assembly.
• Experience reading harness drawings, wiring diagrams, and pinouts.
• Hands-on harness fabrication: crimping, soldering, backshell, potting.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 3 requirements.
• Experience with harness CAD like RapidHarness or SolidWorks Electrical.

Mansioni

• Own manufacturing engineering and production operations for Planet's in-house wire harness cell across all satellite programs.
• Develop and document harness assembly procedures, process flows, work instructions, and cleanroom/ESD protocols.
• Design and deploy tooling, fixtures, workstations, and verification programs for the harness cell.
• Provide DFM/DFA feedback on new harness designs prior to release.
• Support vehicle subsystem integration, troubleshoot issues, and drive nonconformances to resolution.
• Manage make-versus-buy transitions, qualifying external vendors and phasing in-house.
• Participate in hiring and training production technicians for flight production.
• Monitor production metrics and indicate facility or equipment improvements to scale capacity.
